Vlastimil Herold (19 July 1924 – 10 March 2004) was a Czech-Slovak artist, animator, graphic designer, caricaturist, typographer, illustrator and filmmaker. He is one of the four founders of Slovak animated cinema. In the years 1942-1944 he studied painting at Professor V. Tittelbach's evening drawing school in Prague. After the war, he joined the newly founded Brothers in Trick cartoon studio in Prague, where he worked until 1951. At that time, he married the animator Libuša Černá, who later helped him in creating all of his next films. films.
