Also known under the pseudonym Zastupets - Russian and Soviet painter, graphic artist, theater artist, teacher, professor at the Academy of Arts of the USSR. From the age of 13 he studied in the workshop of M.F. Buda in Nizhyn, later - in the private Kyiv drawing school N.I. Murashko, and then - at the Kiev Art School. In 1904 he entered the Higher Art School at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg as a volunteer and, having graduated from it in 1911 in the workshop of Dmitry Kardovsky, received the title of artist for the painting “Rebekah and Elizar”. Living in St. Petersburg, Naumov painted still lifes, landscapes, paintings on mythological and biblical subjects.
