Khan Yusif oglu Babayev was an Azerbaijani Soviet cinematographer. Khan Babayev was born in the village of Seydakaran, Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. In 1922, he moved with his family to Baku, where in 1926 he entered Secondary School No. 48. From 1931 to 1937, he studied at the Electronics Department of the Azerbaijan State Polytechnical School, and from 1938 to 1950, at the Department of Cinematography of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, in the workshop of Boris Volchek. In the pre-war years, he worked as an assistant mechanic and electrical technician in various organizations. Babayev was drafted into the Soviet Army by the Voroshilov Regional Military Commissariat in Baku in 1941, serving until 1946. He took part in the Great Patriotic War.
