Having been a composer and a performer since an early age, David attended the Manhattan School of Music and Crane School of Music in New York with a major in Electronic Music Composition and Recording. David came to California in 1980, where he worked his way up as a studio assistant/vault manager, sound recordist, and sound editor, learning the art of sound for picture at Compact Video. David began mixing solo in 1984 and soon became one of the "go-to" mixers for music on television. During this period, David won six Emmy Awards with 38 nominations; his first for Andre Previn and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, to a Dolly, Kenny, and Willie music special. In a move towards his goal to mix feature films, David worked at Larson Studios in 1991. There, he mixed movies for television, hour-long dramatic series, and feature films. In 1996, David moved to TODD-AO Studios....
