Full disclosure, I only watched Satanic Panic because I knew Clarke Wolfe was in it, and I wanted to support her work. Anyway, it turns out that she's only in about 9 seconds of this movie, so if that was all it had to offer, I would've felt very ripped off. Fortunately! That was not even close to the case. The partnership between Hayley Griffith's and Ruby Modine's characters only really takes off once the movie is already half-way done, but once it does it absolutely becomes the driving force behind Satanic Panic, to its massive benefit.
Final rating:★★★½ - I really liked it. Would strongly recommend you give it your time.
‘Satanic Panic’ is more than just a fast-paced, 88-minute horror-comedy with a catchy title. Along with the likes of Emma Tammi’s 'The Wind', Mitzi Peirone’s ‘Braid’, and Danishka Esterhazy’s ‘Level 16’, first-time director Chelsea Stardust demonstrates that some of the most subversive and exciting work in the horror field is being done by female directors right now.
