Description

A little cat that lives on a dying planet has to start a long journey. On this voyage he will face dangers and adventures, but will ultimately return home. This is a metaphor about life as a circle that began when we were just children at home. Based freely on the 2nd century poem 'The hymn of the pearl'.

I think there's a fair smattering of allegory here, not least the tree on the world upon which our kitten starts from as it looks longingly into an inviting universe from the safety of home. When it boards a makeshift aeroplane and takes off into a world of brac-a-brac filled contraptions, it encounters some creatures that are friendlier the others but after a while begins to relish the security of home. I thought the mixture of animation styles here worked quite powerfully as the drawings and the hand-crafted props help combine well to tell a story of exploration and curiosity that we all face when it comes to our leaving the nest - even if it is essentially so we can just set up one of our own. It's quirky and well worth four minutes.
