It’s the instantly recognisable dulcets of the McGarrigle sisters that get this moving as this part actuality and part animation showcases the skills, lives and loves of those nimble Canadian log drivers. The real footage shows us just how goat-like these gents are as they hop to and from, then ride the trunks floating quickly downstream before we merge into a more jovial and colourful hand-drawn journey that sees these hunky chaps the centre of attention for many of the locals gals. It’s not often you hear a song that tries to rhyme the word “completely” which is oddly enough quite memorable, too. I expect machines do most of this manual work now…?
